You can send and receive money after you've added your bank account to WhatsApp.
To add your bank account, you will need:
  • An active account at an Indian bank that supports UPI (Unified Payment Interface). The primary phone number associated with this bank account must match the phone number of your WhatsApp account.


To add your bank account from Settings:
  1. Tap Settings > Payments > Add Payment Method > Continue.
  2. Tap Accept and Continue to accept our Payments Terms and Privacy Policy.
  3. From the list of banks, tap the name of your bank.
  4. Tap Verify via SMS.
  5. A pre-filled SMS with a verification code will open up on your phone. Tap Send
     to send this message and verify your account. Don't make any edits to the content of this message.
  6. Tap the bank account you want to add to send and receive payments with WhatsApp.
  7. Tap Send a Payment or Done.
To add your bank account from Chat:
  1. Open a chat with the person you'd like to send money to > tap the Payments
     icon. Alternatively, you can tap Attach
     > Payment.
  2. Enter the rupee amount you'd like to send > tap Next > tap Get Started.
  3. Tap Accept and Continue to accept our Payments Terms and Privacy Policy.
  4. From the list of banks, tap the name of your bank.
  5. Tap Verify via SMS.
  6. A pre-filled SMS with a verification code will open up on your phone. Tap Send
     to send this message and verify your account. Don't make any edits to the content of this message.
  7. Tap the bank account you want to add to send and receive payments with WhatsApp.
  8. To verify your debit card, tap Continue.
  9. Verify your debit card details > tap Next to return to your payment message.
Note:
  • You will be asked to confirm your UPI PIN before sending a payment.
  • If you haven't set up a UPI PIN yet, you'll be asked to do so by verifying the last 6 digits of your debit card and the expiration date.
  • You will only have to accept the Payments Terms and Privacy Policy during your initial bank set up.
  • If you don't see your bank listed, it may not be supported.
