- Open a chat with the contact you want to send money to.
- Tap the Payments icon.
- Enter the rupee amount you'd like to send > tap Next > Send Payment.
- Verify the payment by entering your UPI PIN.
- Open a chat with the contact you want to send money to.
- Tap Attach > Payment.
- Enter the rupee amount you'd like to send > Next > Send Payment.
- Verify the payment by entering your UPI PIN.
- You will be asked to confirm your UPI PIN before sending a payment.
- If you haven’t set up a UPI PIN yet, you’ll be asked to do so by verifying the last 6 digits of your debit card and the expiration date.
- The description for the payment is optional and won't show up on your bank statement.
- Once the payment is sent, the transaction details will be listed in the chat, including a transaction ID.
- You might receive a confirmation SMS from your bank after the payment has been completed.
- You won't be able to send money if your contact doesn't have payments enabled. You'll see the following pop-up message when trying to send them money: "To receive a payment, [your contact] needs to set up payments in WhatsApp by tapping Settings > Payments".
- To use payments, make sure you're using the latest version of WhatsApp. If you're having trouble downloading it through the Google Play Store, visit whatsapp.com/download.
